Item 1: The Lord Of The Rings -  Return Of The King (New line cinema, US 2003, Director. Peter Jackson) Very useful shows a clear relationship between the two because special effects are used throughout, also it is there most awarded piece of work with 11 Oscars. It is also the biggest films for both Peter Jackson and Weta because of the money it took to create and the revenue which it created.

Item 2: King Kong (Universal Pictures, US 2005, Director. Peter Jackson)
This is a important film because it’s Peter Jackson’s life long dream to re-make and the fact that he has put his trust in WETA to be responsible for the main character in the film shows the relationship that the two have.

Item 3: District 9 – (Wingnut films, US 2009, director. Neil Blomkamp)
This film shows a different relationship between the two, Peter Jackson was the producer in this film and hired WETA to create some of the special effects. I chose this film because it is both there most recent production.

Non digetic – Several sound effects will be added to create an atmosphere and tension for the scene

In today’s lesson i worked on story boarding and planing my teaser trailer this is important to the outcome of my film because i need to figure out what shots i need to shoot to make the teaser trailer successful. I have started by story boarding 8 shots which will complete my trailer, i have also drawn up other shots that will be used as back up if the main shots do not come out the way i wanted. This is possible because of the environment i am working in, because im filming at night there is the possibility of some shots not coming out clear which will effect the outcome of my work so i need to shoot as much as possible to give me options. Also i have wrote to Epping Forest Council asking for permission to film, i am now waiting on a reply to let me film which i believe will happen because of the low risk involved.

In todays lesson i continued to work on my film poster and managed to complete it, i spent allot of time on blending and changing the effects of my image i believe i have now captured the effect which i wanted. I also spent alot of time choosing fonts for different parts of my cover i ended up with different styles but i believe that they all represent the genre of the film and all add effect to the poster. i had a problem when creating my poster because i had a space in the middle that i needed to fill, i believe i found the right content to fill this gap, i used films review’s to fill it i did this because they also add tension to the film by the words which i have chosen.

In todays lesson i researched into fonts to use for my front cover and homepage of my website i looked at different characteristics like does it represent the theme of my film?, isit clear and does it draw my audience in? and can it be transfered to my front cover with the same effect? by asking these questions i have eliminated several fonts and have been left with  about 5 for each. I also got some feedback on each and which helped me deciding, i have still not decided yet so i am going to try each out with the background for my poster and then decide on which to use.

I am researching into fonts for the cover for my poster i need one font which will be used for the name of my film ( The Dark Forest) and for the tagline which will also be on the poster. Since my film is based in a forest i need a font which will represent the forest so i am looking for something that quite sketchy and messy but at the same time quite scary. I have found a site which has thousands of fonts which are free to use it is called www.dafont.com i will look at hundreds of fonts and choose 5 which will be appropriate for my front cover and then i will decide which is best from there.

Name of font = Glow Carro Danish SWpiik

What i like and dislike about it =  I think this font comes across as quite scary and i also think it could represent a forest because of scribbly style but it also has some problems with it, i think its not that clear and very thin lettering so i am not sure it will jump out at my audience.

Name of font = Fh Faith

What i like and dislike about it = This font has a really good look to it its really rough looking and looks like its a crayon drawn on a wall but it looks like it would be hard to change to the colour of it which is necessary because the background on the poster is black.

Name of Font = Were Beast

What i like and dislike about this font = i like a few things about this font the main thing being it has a clear horror theme to it, another advantage to it is that it come in white aswell as black so that could come in usefull the only thing thats bad about it is that it looks quite common but ill get some other opinions and see what they think.

Name of font = Mom’s Typewriter

What i like and dislike about it = I like this font because it’s very bold and clear but it might not represent the forest aswell as others

Name of Font = Necropsy

What i like and dislike about it = The representation of horror is as clear as it can be with this font, i think the dripping ink add’s effect. The only problem i can find with this font is that it may be hard to change colour or size because of the detail in the font but i think it will be worth it because this is my favourite font of all.

A film distributor is an independent company, a subsidiary  company or occasionally an individual, which acts as the final agent between a film production company or some intermediary agent, and a film exhibitor, to the end of securing placement of the producer’s film on the exhibitor’s screen. In the film business, the term “distribution” refers to the marketing and circulation of movies in theaters , and for home viewing (DVD, Video-On-Demand, Download, Television etc).

2000′s – spider-man

Box office revenue – $821,708,551

Review – This is the best comic character since Batman. In fact, I liked this a lot better than Batman. It did not have any slow spots. The acting was well and the characters fitted the comic book characters to a tee. I can not wait for the sequel. I wonder who the villain will be. The special affects were good, but you could tell some was computer graphics. A must see. 10/10

Availability on DVD’s – Easy to find

Can you watch it on the internet? – Not legally

90′s – Titanic

Box office revenue – $1,842,869,955

Review – This movie re-wrote film history in every way. No one cares what anyone thinks about this movie, because it transcends criticism. Every flaw in the movie is easily overcome by the many amazing things the movie has going for it. It is an extremely beautiful movie, and I doubt many of us will see anything like it again. I’ve seen it more times than I care to count, and I still become transfixed every time, with a feeling which is hard to describe. One for the ages.

Availability on DVD – easy to find

Can you watch it on the Internet? – Not Legally

80′s – Die Hard

Box office Revenue -  $1,126,935,581

Review – Bruce Willis gives a amazing performance in perhaps one of the best movies of the 1980s. This is an action/adventure movie for the ages. There are a lot of great scenes, including the scene where Bruce Willis leaps off the rooftop and crashes trough the window. I never thought it would be so good when I first saw it, but I was wrong. Don’t miss one of Willis’ best films of all time.

Availability on DVD – it can be found but not as easily as more recent films

Can you watch it on the internet? – Not legally

70′s – Star Wars

Box office Revenue – $797,900,000

Review – Star Wars is a movie that has had great social impact, a fact that has often gone unnoticed. A harbinger of a changing mood within the United States, Star Wars was one of the few movies rated General that was released in 1977. Where movies had for a decade been depicting ever more dark topics (Taxi Driver, The Exorcist) Star Wars was a lighthearted adventure. While some may decry the move back to swashbuckling from social comment, I for one celebrate the fact that Star Wars made it possible for families to go to movies together once again.

Availability on DVD – it can be found but mainly comes with the others as a trilogy

Can you watch it on the internet? – Not legally

In todays lesson i started some of my practical task’s, firstly i took photo’s of tree’s and the forest these images would feature in my poster for my film. After taking some images i was pleased with i started to construct a draft poster, i mainly focused on colours and positioning i believe the outcome i was left with is a good idea of what my final poster will look like. I tested several images and ways of blending them into the cover i found some to be much more successfull than others. In the second period of the lesson i started to storyboard my teaser tailer and all looked at sound effects i believe i have found around 3 or 4 that will be usefull towards my final piece.
